Tobacco Free Partnership of Broward County Announces May Events

Fort Lauderdale, FL - The Tobacco Free Partnership of Broward County (TFP) is pleased to announce two special events scheduled for the month of May 2018.
Saturday, May 12, 2018 - 7 AM - 11 AM, the Fort Lauderdale Beach Sweep will take place to provide a more environmentally friendly area for all. Volunteers can register and participate by meeting at A1A and Las Olas Blvd. (300 S Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd). Volunteers should be at least eight years old and adults must accompany all minors. Wear appropriate attire - T-shirt and shorts are acceptable; bring a hat, sunscreen and a reusable bottle to eliminate waste, water will be provided.
Thursday, May 17, 2018 - 7 PM, TFP in collaboration with the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) will hold its monthly meeting at the International Swimming Hall of Fame Museum. The Museum is located at One Hall of Fame Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316-just south of Las Olas off of Seabreeze Blvd. The community is welcome to attend. Following the meeting, there will be a reception and the grand opening of “Smoke on the Water” exhibit. This exhibit portrays how the tobacco industry recruited Olympic Swimmers, especially female swimmers to promote their products. The exhibit presents examples of advertisements from as far back as the early 1900’s of the many ways that swimmers were used to promote tobacco use.
