The American Community Survey (ACS)external_link is a mandatory, ongoing statistical survey that samples a small percentage of the population every year -- giving communities the information they need to plan investments and services.

The County Health Rankings & Roadmaps programexternal_link is a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.  The annual County Health Rankings measure vital health factors, including high school graduation rates, obesity, smoking, unemployment, access to healthy foods, the quality of air and water, income, and teen births in nearly every county in America. The annual Rankings provide a revealing snapshot of how health is influenced by where we live, learn, work and play. They provide a starting point for change in communities.

Broward Regional Health Planning Council, Inc.,external_link health data warehouse and analytic tool, the Hospital Inpatient & Emergency Department Analytical System, consists of six modules that analyze inappropriate emergency department utilization, avoidable hospital admissions, and other key chronic conditions. Two other data warehouses have been developed - the Medical Facilities Utilization Reporting System and the DRG Data Warehouse.

Healthy People 2020external_link provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans.  Healthy People 2020 strives to:

  • Identify nationwide health improvement priorities, Increase public awareness and understanding of the determinants of health, disease, and disability and the opportunities for progress.
  • Provide measurable objectives and goals that are applicable at the national, State, and local levels.
  • Engage multiple sectors to take actions to strengthen policies and improve practices that are driven by the best available evidence and knowledge.
  • Identify critical research, evaluation, and data collection needs.

Florida Environmental Public Health Trackingexternal_link works in partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to track diseases that may be related to environmental exposures. This website provides data sets on environmental hazards and associated health outcomes. The purpose of these efforts is to inform communities about disease trends and to design interventions that lead to better health outcomes.

The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS)external_link monitors six types of health-risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death and disability among youth and adults YRBSS includes a national school-based survey conducted by CDC and state, territorial, tribal, and local surveys conducted by state, territorial, and local education and health agencies and tribal governments.
