Contact

Healthy Start is a voluntary program that provides information, referral and ongoing care coordination and support to assure access to needed services, psychosocial, nutritional and smoking cessation counseling, childbirth, breastfeeding, and substance abuse education, home visiting, and inter-conception education and counseling for pregnant women and children up to age three years. All prenatal care providers are required to complete a Healthy Start Prenatal Risk Screen per Florida Statute. A Healthy Start screen is provided during hospitalization after delivery, or by a birth center or home birth midwife. The information provided on the risk screening form is utilized to determine the family’s need for services. The Florida Department of Health in Broward County processes Healthy Start Prenatal Screens for the Broward County Healthy Start Coalition.
