The Florida Department of Health in Broward County participates in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI). This is a federally funded program designed to enhance preparedness in the nation’s largest cities and metropolitan statistical areas where more than 50% of the U.S. population resides. Through CRI, the Florida Department of Health in Broward County has developed plans to respond to a large-scale bioterrorist event by dispensing antibiotics to the entire population of the County within 48 hours.
