This program works to ensure that group care facilities in Broward County meet minimum health and safety standards.

In order to minimize the risk of transmitting disease and injury among the disabled, elderly, children, residents, employees, and visitors to these establishments, the Florida Department of Health in Broward County checks the construction, operation and maintenance of a broad category of residential facilities. These facilities may include public or private school, assisted living facility, adult family-care home, adult day care center, short-term residential treatment center, residential treatment facility, home for special services, transitional living facility, crisis stabilization unit, hospice, prescribed pediatric extended care center, intermediate care facility for persons with developmental disabilities, or boarding school.
