The Florida Department of Health regulates tanning devices that emit electromagnetic radiation. Risks have been associated with over exposure to ultraviolet light from use of tanning beds and booths, just as there are with over exposure to sunlight. Inspections of indoor tanning facilities are conducted to verify safe and sanitary operations.
New or extensively renovated facilities require local plan review by Florida Department of Health in Broward County personnel.
