DOH-Broward Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) highlights the importance of getting mammograms in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
DOH-Broward offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings at various locations in Broward and Martin counties to eligible women through the Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (FBCC). Eligibility criteria for the free breast cancer screenings include women ages 40-64 years and women with little or no health insurance who meet income guidelines (at or below 200% of the poverty level) who live in Broward or Martin counties.
Women who are screened and diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer through DOHBroward’s FBCC program may be eligible to receive treatment services through the Mary Brogan Treatment Act.
