The Florida Department of Health regulates tanning devices that emit electromagnetic radiation. Risks have been associated with overexposure to ultraviolet light from use of tanning beds and booths, just as there are with overexposure to sunlight. Inspections of indoor tanning facilities are conducted to verify safe and sanitary operations.
